Newly Restored English Mansion on Market for $140 Million

Buckingham Palace may sound grandiose to some people, but for those with their sights set on something grander, the $140 million Updown Court mansion in Surrey, UK is perfect. Built in 1924, this estate was destroyed by a fire in 1977. It remained in ruins until 2009, when developer Leslie Allen Vercoe purchased the property for $38.4 million, and invested $60 million into its restoration.

This neighborhood is so exclusive that neighbors include Elton John and the Queen of England. This home boasts 103 rooms, 24 of which are bedrooms. The first floor is the main residential area, with eight bedrooms; the penthouse floor contains two separate penthouses, each with two bedrooms and it occupies an entire wing of the property.

Each bedroom has a honey-colored granite Guatemalan marble bathroom attached to the room for the convenience of each houseguest. The staircase in the foyer is modeled after Gianni Versace’s mansion in Miami. There is also a 24-carat gold mosaic floor.

The $3 million heated marble driveway leads to the massive underground garage, which has granite flooring and is big enough to hold eight limousines. The mansion has plenty of ways to stay active, with a two-lane bowling alley, squash court, floodlit tennis court and a massive 50-seat movie theatre. This extravagant mansion also includes a wine cellar and even a panic room.

On a nice day, residents and houseguests can enjoy a dip in one of the five swimming pools on this 40,000 sq. foot property. There are five acres of 30 different types of imported Italian marble terraces. Not only is this mansion breath-taking, but it is also a short drive from London and Heathrow airport, making it a perfect location and residence.
